Humans, nature and technology. Three themes underlying the performance by Luise Kloos, commissioned by the AVL Cultural Foundation. Set against the backdrop of a fibreglass curtain running the entire length of the Helmut List Halle, upon which creative visuals were projected, the performance used C02 emissions as a metaphor for the interplay between mankind and the natural world.

In 1985 the Styriarte festival in Graz, Austria, was founded to showcase classical music, music from the baroque period, and in particular to showcase the work of conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt who lived in the city. Each year a new theme is chosen for the many different events, which attract audiences who come to enjoy the music, literature, opera, dance and drama.

From religion to music, the golden ratio to automobile manufacture, the influence of sound and the ear’s capabilities can be found in all aspects of human life, and the universe within which it resides.
