Front Row Seat With Rupert Huber: What Does Distance Sound Like?

Rupert Huber is a composer who is best known for his piano music and music installations. For 25 years he has been travelling the world with his electronic music project TOSCA. His theory of composing – called dimensional music – takes into account physical space and the unknown possibilities of creating social and participatory music architecture. Rupert Huber studied composition in Vienna. He is a graduate of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Residency (1997), member of the jury of the Prix Ars Electronica (2007, 2009) and was nominated for the World Technology Award in 2010. Huber composed several pieces with the Irvine instrument, an analog synthesizer created by the AVL Cultural Foundation, demonstrating the instrument’s diverse expressive possibilities.
